Orthotics
What is an Orthotic?
Orthotics are a custom made shoe insert which are prescribed by Podiatrist. Orthotics are usually prescribed to treat foot, leg, hip and back problems. At Bankstown Podiatry and Injury Clinic, all our orthotics are hand tailored to address every patient differently.
When would I be prescribed an orthotic?
Orthotics can be part of a comprehensive treatment plan to address various symptoms, usually having to do with pain and discomfort of the feet, legs and/or back. The goal of an orthotic can be to:
- correcting foot deformities
- assist the foot or ankle function better
- providing support to the ankle
- reducing the risks for further injuries
- re-align the hip, knee and foot
Our Orthotics
At Bankstowns Podiatry and Injury Clinic, we can prescribe almost 30 different orthotic styles which can have up to 150 modifications tailored to suit each individual needs.
At Bankstown Podiatry and Injury Clinic we capture casts slightly differently to some Podiatrists. All our casts are captured in a loaded position, with either semi weight or full weight on the foot, which mimics the weight bearing action of the foot whilst walking.
